An interim way forward for The Vine
We have much to thank Pam for in her developing of The Vine, building on the work of Pat Lyne. At the moment no-one feels able to take on their mantle in its present form but I am sure that all of us wish it to continue in some form or other. Consequently John Flaherty of the Edith Stein community, Derby and the Bl. Elizabeth of the Trinity group in Nottingham have come up with an alternative way of delivering The Vine, which can be seen as an interim, or as the normal, way , depending upon your opinion and the willingness of others to undertake the editorship and distribution in future.
We know we don't have the time to take on responsibility for a printed version only. We are happy, however, to edit a version which is primarily delivered by e-mail. This is how it will work.
All information and articles should come to me at heatherward@tinyworld.co.uk. If it is not at all possible to send this electronically then it can be sent by mail to Heather Ward 11 Deepdale Rd Wollaton, Nottingham NG8 2FU. I do urge you to make this a last resort - if you can find some way of sending it by e-mail please do.
Distribution
Distribution for people who don't have access to the internet/e-mail will require the co-operation of our groups - we need one person per group to be prepared to receive and copy each edition for distribution to those who are not on e-mail. This will mean it should be possible for everyone in a group to have a copy at minimal expense. Payment can be made within your group without need of annual subscription to a central point.
1. If you belong to a group and have an e-mail address please subscribe - free!
- by sending your details to John Flaherty - johnmarie506@hotmail.co.uk
Alternatively, you may prefer to have on person per group receiving the e-mail
and taking responsibility for forwarding it to other members by e-mail and in
print for those who are not on e-mail.
2. If you belong to a group and do not have e-mail access, please make sure the appropriate person in your group knows you need a copy.
3. If you are attached to a group, but cannot attend regularly and do not have e-mail, please do the same - make contact with the group to which you are attached.
4. If you have no e-mail and no contact with a group, please send your details to me at the above address and we will sort out a way of your receiving a printed version. As yet we don't know how many people will be in this category. We may need to ask help from groups if this involves a large number.
We hope you will find this acceptable - it's a loss to lose the printed version but this approach has the merits that now every Secular can have a regular copy with minimal effort and cost and that useful info and articles will be immediately available for editing and copying - no more photocopying!
