| The Carmel of Our Lady of Walsingham was founded in1982 from the Carmelite Monastery at Quidenham, Norfolk. We are five miles from the National Shrine at Walsingham and one mile from the North Sea seacoast. | ![]() |

Each of us individually and as a community seek to be women whose whole life is prayer so that through this prayer and through sisterly care, God may be able to work in us and through us for our world. |
|
Our life is ordered to creating the best possible environment for prayer
and for the human growth of each sister. |

We make our living baking Altar Breads but we also make and sell icons and, in a small way, cards. We have an extensive library of both non-fiction and fiction for we believe that the nourishing of the mind with good books is a nourishing of our faith and therefore of ourselves. |
| At our daily evening hour of 'recreation', in addition to the times we spend simply in quiet conversation, we may also entertain ourselves with a play (ourselves the cast and audience), poetry, music, games. For we also believe that insofar as it is consistent with a life dedicated to prayer we should rejoice in all God's gifts to us. | ![]() |
Our aim as Carmelites however, is always - in all we do and are - to be women of God who listen as deeply as we can to God and who love God and our sisters and brothers as fully as we can.
